Don’t do
any type of construction or tree plantation below the overhead
lines. |

Don’t touch broken
electric wire in any circumstances. |
|
Don’t try to climb on
the electric tower / pole for removal of foreign object from
the line / wire. |
|
Do not paste / attach advertisement
boards, banners, TV channel wires etc. to electric poles / towers. |
|
Don’t give power supply from your service installation to others which may prove fatal. |
|
Do not make any temporary joints in the wiring, especially without proper insulation. |
|
Do not insert wires directly into the plug socket without a matching plug pin. |
|
Do not use metallic yarn for flying kites. |

|
Avoid the use
of metallic wire for hanging wet clothes and try to keep it
away from electric pole / line. |
|
Regularise the
temporary, open as well as hanging loose wiring with the help
of wireman. |
|
Make use of proper
capacity fuse wire, Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) as well
as Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB).
It is compulsory to use ELCB for load of 5 KW and above. |
|
Use fuse wire of the correct size and capacity without a joint. |
|
Use only one plug in a socket. |
|
Use only CO2 or Dry Chemical Powder extinguishers for dousing electrical fire. |
|
Turn off the switch before plugging in or plugging out any electrical appliances. |
|
Use only 3-pin plug points for heavy appliances like - refrigerator, mixer, iron, wet grinder, washing machine, etc. and ensure it is properly earthed. |
|
Switch off the electrical items when you are away from the house for a long period of time as it can be a fire risk and waste of energy on standby. |
|
Use E.L.C.B. (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker) with the main switch for added personal safety. It is compulsory to use ELCB for load of 5 KW and above. |
|
Fly kites in an open area, away from power lines. |
|
Keep all electrical appliances away from water. |
|

Engage only licensed
and government approved contractors for wiring. |
|
Use 3-Pin Plugs
for electrical appliances. |
|
Ensure proper
insulation of wire by making purchase of B.I.S. marked / Quality
Control Number wires. |

Use Separate
plug and socket for each appliance to avoid overloading on wiring. |
|
Replace broken
switch immediately. |
|
Switch "off"
the main switch when the premise is going to remain closed for
a long period of time. |
|
Ensure proper
earthing to all electrical installation as well as appliances
and get it inspected on regular interval. |
