Generation |

Torrent Power has a generating
capacity of 500 MW at Ahmedabad, comprising:
A unique mix of coal and gas based thermal power plants
which continues to use the latest technology that ensures
high levels of efficiency

It has plans to augment
its generating capacity and is in the process of establishing
the 1147.5
MW SUGEN Combined Cycle Power Plant at Akhakhol
village near Surat. The project is scheduled to be commissioned in the financial year 2008-2009

Transmission
and Distribution |

Torrent Power transmits
and distributes more than 10 billion units of power to around 1.9
million customers in the cities of Ahmedabad,
Gandhinagar and Surat,
spanning an area of 408 Sq. Km. These cities are major
industrial and commercial hubs of Gujarat State
|

For several decades now, Ahmedabad,
Gandhinagar and Surat have experienced little or no
disruption in city life due to power failures or outages.
And these cities continue to stay insulated from electrical
disturbances and voltage fluctuations
|
|
What is also significant about these
uninterrupted operations is the achievement of drastic
reduction in the transmission and distribution (T&D)
losses. Torrent Power Limited has one of the lowest T&D losses in the country at 9.67% for 2005-06(18 months).
